What Makes a Great Request
Specifics help a Coach act with precision. Rather than “better drives,” a
Player might write -
“My driver starts left and curves right with 15 yards of
slice. I am looking for one checkpoint and one drill to fix this.” Clear
titles and concise descriptions keep the request focused - see
Adding Context: Title & Issue Description.
Stating an outcome keeps guidance on track. Examples - “more centred
strike with 7-iron,” “reduce three-putts inside 30 feet,” or “calmer
routine on final three holes.” Brief, relevant constraints a Player faces also
help the Coach tailor the Tip to what is feasible - “two 30-minute range
sessions this week,” or “can only practice putting indoors” or “winter tight
lies on home course cause thin contact.”
Honesty matters. If confidence dips under pressure, practice time is
limited, or there is a temporary niggle to work around, a Coach can shape
advice to fit reality. A great request does not need to be long -
just clear.
