Encouragement is an essential part of every Tip. Golf can be frustrating,
especially for beginners or Players who feel stuck. A positive message from a
Coach can make the difference between stopping and pushing forward.
Encouragement does not mean avoiding honesty. It means giving advice in a way
that helps Players act with confidence.
Start by recognising what the Player is already doing well. Acknowledging
strengths builds trust and sets a positive tone for the rest of the Tip. When
pointing out areas to improve, present them as opportunities rather than
faults. For example, “you have a good rhythm, now let’s adjust your grip to
give you more control” feels constructive and achievable.
Encouragement also comes from energy and delivery. Speak clearly, with
steady enthusiasm, and show that you believe in the Player’s potential. A
supportive approach makes Players more likely to follow advice and return for
future Tips.
By combining clear instruction with encouragement, Coaches create a coaching
experience that inspires progress and keeps Players engaged with the game.
