The Tip Calculator is a simple way for Coaches to set a fair Tip price that reflects real-world lesson rates while keeping Tips accessible for Players. It converts a typical lesson price and length into a per-minute value, then applies the standard Tip length so pricing stays proportionate and easy to understand.
How it works.
A Coach enters a usual lesson price and duration; the calculator derives a per-minute rate and prices the Tip at about four minutes of that rate (roughly 6.67% of an hour). Players see the price clearly on the Coach profile before sending a request.
Earnings and fees.
Payment-gateway fees are deducted first. Of the remaining balance, 85% is paid to the Coach and 15% to Elevate Golf (split equally between marketing and product/operations). The calculator shows approximate earnings per Tip; actual payouts are settled precisely.
Setting a starting rate.
The calculator anchors pricing to a Coach’s existing in-person lesson rate and the advantages of the Elevate Golf model (short, focused Tips - flexible delivery - global reach). Rates usually begin in a low micro-purchase range and adjust over time with reputation and demand. Evidence may be requested for rates that sit outside typical market norms.
